Tuna Melt Recipe

Here’s a delicious Tuna Melt recipe that’s quick and easy to make:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans of tuna (in water, drained)
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons celery, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough or rye work well)
  • 4 slices of cheddar or Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Optional: 2-3 tomato slices and pickles for topping

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the tuna salad:
    • In a bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, red onion, celery, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
  2. Assemble the sandwiches:
    • Take two slices of bread and layer each with a slice of cheese. Spread a generous portion of the tuna salad on top of one slice. Add tomato slices and pickles if using. Place the second slice of bread (cheese side down) on top to create the sandwich.
  3. Grill the tuna melt:
    • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
    • Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, pressing down slightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese has melted.
    • Add more butter to the skillet as needed for the other side.
  4. Serve:
    • Slice the sandwich in half and serve hot with your favorite side, like chips or a simple salad.

Enjoy your warm, cheesy tuna melt!
