Shepherd’s Pie Recipe

Here’s a classic and comforting recipe for Shepherd’s Pie. This dish features a savory ground meat filling topped with creamy mashed potatoes and baked to perfection.

Ingredients:

For the Meat Filling:

• 1 lb ground beef or lamb (for a traditional shepherd’s pie, use lamb)
• 1 small onion, diced
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 cup carrots, diced
• 1 cup peas (frozen or fresh)
• 1/2 cup corn (optional)
• 2 tablespoons tomato paste
• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
• 1 cup beef or chicken broth

• 1 teaspoon dried thyme

• 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and diced
• 1/4 cup milk
• 1/4 cup butter

• 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the mashed potatoes:

• Boil the diced potatoes in a large pot of salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain well.
• Mash the potatoes with milk, butter, salt, and pepper until smooth. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese if using. Set aside.
