Beef and Broccoli Ramen Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450 g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 packs of ramen noodles (discard seasoning packets)
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium)
- 1/4 cup oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Cook the noodles: Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the ramen noodles according to package instructions (without the seasoning packets). Drain and set aside.
- Blanch the broccoli: In the same pot, add the broccoli florets and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn bright green and are tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
- Sear the beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté garlic and ginger: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Sauté the minced garlic and ginger for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Make the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and beef broth. Add the sauce to the skillet, and bring to a simmer. If you’d like a thicker sauce, dissolve the cornstarch in a tablespoon of water, then stir it into the sauce.
- Combine: Return the cooked beef and broccoli to the skillet, and toss to coat in the sauce. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to heat everything through. Add the cooked ramen noodles, tossing to combine with the beef, broccoli, and sauce.
- Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, and serve immediately.
Serving Suggestions:
- Add a side of egg rolls or dumplings for an Asian-inspired meal.
- Sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes for extra heat.
This Beef and Broccoli Ramen is a flavorful, comforting dish that’s perfect for busy weeknights!
